More about our products
Off-site construction: Factory built modular medical construction provides for the simultaneous overlap of the activities of off-site in the manufacturing plant and on-site, where preparing the site for the building installation takes place, while eliminating any construction weather delays.
Minimal to no disruptions to medical facility operations: Because the construction is off-site, there is no disruption to the on-site hospital campus and daily operations. This is important for the host medical facility and the elimination of airborne pathogens and dust due to site construction.
Exceptional consistency and quality: The same materials are used to construct modular medical buildings and are built to the same codes, standards, and architectural specifications as site-built building. Through the factory assembly process quality improvements are identified, which leads to greater proficiency, consistency, including safety, thus disqualifying issues with poor or damaged materials. Aesthetically, permanent modular medical buildings can be designed to match existing host medical facilities, and after completion very similar in appearance.
Speed to Market: The modular medical construction is built in a matter of months instead of years as with site-built facilities. A permanent or temporary modular medical building can be completed in 25-40% of the time required for typical site-built methods.
Sustainable construction: A factory built modular medical building is a greener process, generating less waste, allowing for stricter control of the entire manufacturing process. As a result, there is less material waste and greater use of recycling of building materials. And, with temporary modular medical facilities, they can be relocated or refurbished for repurpose or secondary use.
Cost certainty: Once final plans and designs are approved and agreed on, there will be no changes in pricing, unless a change order were to take place.
MODULAR MEDICAL BUILDINGS – TEMPORARY or PERMANENT USE
Temporary Modular Medical
A temporary modular medical building uses the factory-built modular building process and is designed with complete MEP, fixtures, and finishes that enable them to be conveniently relocated for reuse or repurpose. They offer the same fastest form of delivery, the ability to relocate to other sites. They can be placed on concrete piers to save on costs, and possibly even ABS pads if acceptable by local building officials. Temporary modular medical buildings meet all state and local building code requirements and are an ideal solution for meeting any temporary, interim, ‘swing space’ solutions.
Permanent Modular Medical
Permanent modular medical facility construction is the same environmentally sustainable construction method that utilizing off-site manufacturing for single or multi-story buildings and are delivered and attached to a permanent foundation. They can be placed on either a traditional pier or beam type foundation, or on a concrete slab. And, like any building, with proper maintenance, they do not have a limited lifespan.
STRUCTURALLY SOUND CONSTRUCTION
The evolution of permanent modular medical buildings has progressed to the refined development of single and multistory application for space needs across a broad spectrum of industries. Modular medical buildings are designed and built to meet the same building codes and approvals as site-built and constructed structures. The off-site manufacturing process is monitored by applicable state approved inspection programs, while the local inspection process at the site insures that each facility will meet the structural integrity and performance that is required. In many cases, the modules are superior structurally because they are built to be safely transported on the highway and for crane-setting onto the foundation.
UNLIMITED ARCHITECTURAL APPREAL
Today’s generation of both temporary and permanent modular medical buildings have a greater degree of aesthetic curb appeal and sophisticated practical use than ever before. This is because of the improvements in the production process and the increased number of design professionals rapidly embracing modular medical building systems. Modular medical buildings can be designed to meet or exceed the architectural aesthetics of any traditional site-built structures. For owners, architects and developers, modular medical buildings can meet or exceed any aesthetically and pleasing sophisticated design and construction expectations to rival that of site-built product. This includes either a freestanding facility or an addition to an existing building, whether it’s brick, mason, stucco, or traditional wood siding.
ABOUT MOBILE MEDICAL FACILITIES
Benefits
- No disruption to medical facility operations
- Temporary or permanent use
- Regulatory compliant
- Exceptional consistency and quality
- Multi-configurable
- Off-site construction
- New construction ready for use in about 6 months
No disruptions to medical facility operations: because the construction is done off-site, there is no disruption to the on-site hospital campus and daily operations. This is important for the host medical facility, thus preventing and eliminating airborne pathogens and dust due to site construction.
Temporary or permanent use: Mobile medical facilities can be used as temporary ‘swing space’ to fill either a short-term or long-term gap, or permanently, where mobile medical facilities have been in use for 10+ years.
Regulatory complaint: The mobile medical facility is designed to comply with local, state and national requirements. Where in use, the facility will have been surveyed and inspected under the umbrella of the existing license of the hospitals where they have been used. Some of the capabilities and features of the units may not be required when attached to a hospital. However, they make the units more efficient and capable when used in an emergency role.
Exceptional consistency and quality in Manufacturing: In manufacturing 2” square aluminum tubing is used to construct exterior walls, with 2”x 3” used as the header and footer. Next applied is a .05 thickness pre-painted aluminum sheeting without using rivets. After the aluminum sheeting is applied, and the walls are attached to the trailer, then foam is sprayed between the joists to take up any air gaps that may allow moister to be produced. Next, the interior walls are covered with either a white color Trespa, Fiberesin, Kemply, or laminated panels, all of which are a non-hydroscopic, phenolic material, which is impervious to staining. To date, many facilities have been used using this unique outlined construction technique, with no problems, including none with corrosion or mold.
The ceiling is a one-piece aluminum sheet which also uses 2”x 2” square aluminum tubing as support. The ceiling is then spray-foam insulated to insure that there is no possibility for moisture buildup. The floor is constructed from light-weight plywood to help reduce overall weight of the trailer and provides additional strength to the overall construction of the trailer. The underside is then spray foamed to help retain the air conditioning of the interior.
As a result our designs offer virtually any type of mobile medical facility that may be requested or required. All technical information is adhered to in every detail, with excellent quality and service capabilities that will surpass your expectations.
You will see during your review of our proposals, we meet or exceed the needs for most any requirements sought and have brought with that a ‘high-tech’ feel for the interior decor. With the understanding that the end-user will be expecting such ‘high-tech’ appointments, you will be very pleased with the end product you will receive from us. Again, we will more than exceed your expectations for quality and cost for your project. In addition, we offer a 1-year bumper-to-bumper warranty and can offer an option of extending the warranty upon request.
Multi-configurable (interior): The actual size and space available of a mobile medical facility is determined by the chassis length used and the square footage is restricted to that size. While we have a number of floor plans for use available, whether it’s an operating room or simply a medical clinic, the interior may be re-configured as long as it remains regulatory compliant.
Off-site construction: Factory built mobile medical facilities are constructed to provide for the simultaneous overlap of the activities of on-site preparations, where the site for the mobile medical facility installation takes place, while eliminating any construction weather delays.
Ready for use in about 6 months: Allow for 6 months for new construction. At times, having inventory may allow for us to have mobile medical facilities available.
PROCESS FOR USE
There are several steps involved in the regulatory process that leads to licensure and certification.
C.O.N.: The first step, if and where applicable, is the Certificate of Need process. The Certificate of Need program came about many years ago because of a need to regulate and control the establishment of Health Care Facilities in an environment where public funds were available through such programs as the Hill/Burton grants. There was a concern that the number of hospitals and other health care facilities would exceed the need. The Federal Government passed legislation to limit the building of facilities requiring a Certificate of Need be obtained after going through a process that looked to see if the service was needed. Most states passed legislation that was modeled after the federal law. Many states have since removed the requirement for a C.O.N. In states that still do require a C.O.N., this may be a part of the process. There is a provision in most states that still require a C.O.N. that allows for a minimum expenditure exemption. This allows facilities to expend minor amounts without having to obtain a C.O.N. This exemption may apply in a situation where a hospital is leasing a mobile surgery facility rather than purchasing it outright. In a situation where there is a need to apply for a C.O.N. a very strong case can be made that the hospital is providing a service that is not available otherwise, by making the unit available for deployment in an emergency response situation, due to the unit’s mobility.
Licensure: The licensure process is divided into two basic types of inspections or surveys. First, the units are subject to the review and inspection of all of the physical requirements for safety and environmental issues. The second aspect of review looks to the operational aspects of the unit.
Physical Survey: The review of how the unit meets the physical regulatory requirements includes all of the same criteria of any hospital or Ambulatory Surgery Center. They will look at things such as the size of the mobile medical facility, the backup systems, the environmental conditions in the O.R., the flow patterns, and many other physical issues. They will reference several sources of rules. These will include CFR-42 (Federal Regulations), the Life Safety Codes, as well as state specific regulations.
Operational Survey: The review of the operational aspects of the unit covers all of the policies and procedures that apply to the actual use of the unit to provide services. This survey includes reviewing the procedural documentation, questioning the staff, observing the staff in actual operation and reviewing the patient’s charts. All operational aspects are looked at including quality assurance programs and emergency procedures.
Both the physical and operation aspects contribute to determining if a mobile medical facility meets the requirements for licensure. Licensure, (if required) is the first step toward obtaining Medicare Certification as a participating provider for the Medicare program.
